AirLink 802.11ah Camera “Wi-Fi HaLow” Solution and Applications
Solution Overview
The AirLink 802.11ah Wi-Fi HaLow camera solution provides a comprehensive approach for long-range, low-power video surveillance.
Utilizing AirLink 802.11ah wireless cameras (5.0MP bullet, PTZ, LPR and facial recognition models, plus a 4.0MP smoke & fire detection model) and AirLink 802.11ah APs equipped with Yagi 20dBi or Omni 7dBi antennas, this system is optimized for reliable, low-bandwidth video transmission over extended distances. Designed for large-scale outdoor areas, agriculture, smart cities, and Industrial IoT (IIoT) applications, this solution supports stable, low-power, long-distance connectivity.
Applications
-
Smart Agriculture and Farm Surveillance (up to 1 KM)
-
Use Case: Deploying AirLink 802.11ah cameras for remote farm monitoring is ideal for large fields, orchards, and livestock zones. H.265+ compression and RTMP enable efficient real-time video streaming, supporting tasks like crop growth monitoring.
-
Benefits:
-
Long-range connectivity: Omni 7dBi or Yagi 20dBi antennas ensure stable connections within 1 km or more for high bandwidth needs.
-
Low power: H.265+ reduces data load, allowing operations with minimal bandwidth.
-
Real-time streaming: RTMP (H.264) enables live video, ideal for remote viewing and control.
-
-
Field Applications:
-
Large-scale crop monitoring and livestock area security.
-
Environmental monitoring with integrated sensors, tracking resources like water or soil moisture.
-
Bandwidth Requirements (H.265+):
-
2.0MP Camera: 1-2 Mbps (static scenes)
-
5.0MP Camera: 3-5 Mbps (static scenes)
-
*Resolution and bitrate are adjustable in the camera settings — a 5.0MP camera can be stepped down to 2.0MP to extend range or to share one access point between more cameras.
-
-
Border Security and Outdoor Surveillance
-
Use Case: Ideal for monitoring border areas and protected zones. The Yagi 20dBi antenna provides targeted, long-distance data transmission for effective border patrol and intrusion detection.
-
Benefits:
-
Long-range monitoring with stable video quality over distance.
-
Reduced interference, ideal for high-security areas.
-
H.265+ compression reduces bandwidth requirements for distant monitoring.
-
Real-time response: RTMP enables live streaming for quick response to incidents.
-
-
Field Applications:
-
Border patrol and anti-theft monitoring.
-
Security in protected areas and wilderness, reducing illegal activities.
-
Remote infrastructure security, such as dam and power plant monitoring.
-
-
-
Industrial Area and Large-Site Surveillance
-
Use Case: Industrial parks and parking lots can benefit from Omni 7dBi antennas to cover large areas, connecting multiple cameras to a single AP for comprehensive monitoring.
-
Benefits:
-
Uniform signal distribution suitable for multi-camera setups.
-
Wide-area coverage for distributed monitoring.
-
Expandable system, allowing easy addition of cameras.
-
-
Field Applications:
-
Security monitoring in factories, warehouses, and industrial parks.
-
24/7 parking lot and logistics center management.
-
Monitoring of large open areas like ports and airports.
-
Bandwidth Requirements (H.265+):
-
2.0MP Camera: 1-2 Mbps (static scenes)
-
5.0MP Camera: 3-5 Mbps (static scenes)
-
-
Smart City and Community Security
-
Use Case: In smart city environments, Omni 7dBi antennas paired with multiple 802.11ah cameras can monitor community entrances, public areas, and streets, with APs installed in central locations to support a network of cameras for smart security.
-
Benefits:
-
Real-time video streaming for critical areas like community entrances, facilitating early threat detection.
-
High compression at low bandwidths, optimizing resources.
-
Scalable layout supports multi-camera deployments in high-density areas, enabling smart analysis and real-time alerts.
-
-
Field Applications:
-
Monitoring community entrances, public areas, and parking lots.
-
Traffic flow and management in urban areas.
-
Networked security for smart lampposts and parking systems.
-
Real-time traffic incident response through RTMP streaming.
-
Monitoring city infrastructure for enhanced safety and efficiency.
-
-
System Architecture
-
Camera Unit:
-
The AirLink 802.11ah wireless camera (2.0MP or 5.0MP) provides high-definition imaging with H.265+ compression, ensuring efficient data transfer and video quality even at low bandwidths.
-
-
Access Point (AP):
-
Serving as the network hub, the AirLink 802.11ah AP collects data from multiple cameras and transmits it to the backend system.
-
Yagi 20dBi Directional Antenna: Provides focused, long-distance coverage, ideal for large agricultural fields or border security.
-
Omni 7dBi Antenna: Enables broad, multi-directional signal coverage, suitable for monitoring areas like perimeter fences, parking lots, and industrial parks.
-
-
Backend Management System:
-
Video data from the cameras is sent via the 802.11ah AP to a video management system (such as an NVR or cloud-based platform), enabling real-time monitoring, video storage, playback, and smart analysis.
